About Reflexology

There have been references to working on the feet, hands and ears in many civilisations throughtout history. Some of the earliest evidence of Reflexology dates back to the 2500's where Egyptian tomb drawings found in a Physician's tomb depict what looks like a modern day Reflexology session.
The principle is that reflex points all over the feet, hands and ears relate to different areas of the body. So, for example, the toes represent the head and the brain and across the ball of the foot represents the chest, breast and lung area.
The science is that the pressure sends messages to the brain, that will in turn send messages to the body to encourage a healing response.

What happens at my first appointment?
A consultation form will be completed with the client, noting down any medical history, any medication you take and we will discuss what you are hoping to get out of the treatment.
I will ask you to sign the consultation form for consent before treatment will commence.
Your treatment will take place in a La-fuma reclining chair - I will only ask you to remove your shoes and socks (if worn) nothing else.
Aftercare advice
Try to avoid stimulants such as tea, coffee and alcohol. Also, avoid eating a heavy meal for at least an hour after your treatment.
Try to stay hydrated and get some rest to allow your body to rebalance.
After a treatment the body's own natural healing process may cause some people, but not all, to experience a mild headache, feel tired and experience more frequent urination. You might also feel more emotional, and, sometimes, some symptoms, may seem slightly worse. This is quite normal and temporary and should pass within 48 hours
Holistic Healing
Reflexologists do not diagnose or claim to cure. Reflexology is a complementary therapy, that works very well alongside conventional medicine. It should never be used in place of seeking medical advice.
