Maternity Care

Have you written a birth plan?

Having reflexology every 2 to 3 weeks throughout pregnancy would be a great idea!

Reflexology can be used throughout pregnancy and provide you with some time out in your busy life and support you through an emotional and sometimes anxious time!

Having a calming, gentle treatment can help with your mood and emotions and also help with many of your pregnancy symptoms such as:

  • Morning sickness
  • Overactive bladder
  • Painful breasts
  • Constipation

And as the pregnancy develops:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Heartburn
  • Aches & pains
  • Pelvic Arthropathy

Having weekly treatments from week 36 until the baby is born would be lovely and help prepare the body and the baby for labour.

If you have been having reflexology throughout your conception journey that's great, but if Reflexology is a new treatment for you then it is advisable to consult with your midwife first.

There are contra-indications to treating during pregnancy, for instance if you have had previous complications, have certain conditions or are at risk of pre-term labour.

A full consultation and medical history will be taken before treatment commences but if you have any illnesses or medical conditions then please let me know at time of booking.

If you are not sure, please telephone, email or message me via my facebook page to discuss.

Thankyou.

Encouraging Labour

Reflexology at this stage must be approved by the client's midwife, and will only be given at full term.

This is a lovely relaxing and calming treatment, to encourage the mother and baby to relax. Treatment involves giving the body helpful signals to help move along the inevitable, it is a much more natural method than being induced mechanically and chemically.

There are no guarantees, the baby will not come, if it is not ready!

Post natal care

Reflexology can be a huge benefit to post natal women as lack of sleep and falling hormones can lead to baby blues. A post natal treatment would help you to relax and calm your nerves.

Treatment would involve working towards balancing the hormones and the lymphatics to encourage the body to loose its excess fluid.

Having a treatment within a few days of giving birth would be ideal if possible.
